An unusual and striking light pattern can be seen every night in Betsy Whitfill’s home in Dallas, Texas. On a stairway wall there appears to be an artistically rendered image of a figure, produced by means of ambient light emitted from outside. Whitfill is convinced this is not some random convergence of light beams but rather a genuine miracle — one of many signs of wonder, in fact, that have manifested around the world over the past few decades.
Besides regularly hosting a meditation group at her house, for many years Whitfill has sought to help make known to the public the gradual emergence of Maitreya and the Spiritual Hierarchy into full and open view. In the following interview she discusses her initial encounter with the mysterious light pattern and its relation to humanity’s transition into a new era.
Q&A with Betsy Whitfill (September 2018)
AM: When did you first notice this pattern, or “portrait”, and what was everyone’s initial reaction?
BW: It was the 4th of July weekend in 2003. I was walking down the stairs and noticed a face on the wall of the stair landing. I was surprised and stood there looking at it for a few minutes thinking “this looks like a face on the wall!” Then, I thought, oh no it is just a random pattern of leaves from the ambient light from the floodlight on the front door of the house. In 2001, my husband put that floodlight on the front door to show off a Christmas wreath. After Christmas, I wanted him to take it down, since it was so bright, but he insisted, so there it stays all year long. Anyway, I decided to dismiss the “face” and walked on down the stairs. But something made me go back and check it again, and it really did look like a face. I asked my husband to have a look at something on the wall. I didn’t give my opinion. He said it looked like a face. In fact, it looked like one of those Renaissance portraits, really like the self-portrait of Rembrandt.
AM: What makes you think this is a genuine miracle?
BW: First of all, it appeared suddenly. It had not ever been there, and then it was. Secondly, I took a photo of it to a trusted source, Scottish artist and esotericist Benjamin Creme, who said that it was a self-portrait of Jesus.
AM: Benjamin Creme’s publication Share International includes many such types of miraculous stories and photos.
BW: Yes, every month the magazine publishes several reports of miracles from readers. It is just one of the unique features of this all-volunteer-created publication. There is also an article relating to the current state of humanity given through Creme by his Master, articles which highlight the good things people around the world are doing. There is an excerpted online version at share-international.org.
AM: Since the late 1970’s Mr. Creme has been introducing the world to a new type of meditation, called Transmission Meditation, which you have been involved in yourself for a quite a while. Do you think this phenomenon has any connection to the fact that a meditation group regularly meets here?
BW: Since the Master Jesus works so closely with Maitreya, I’m sure there is a connection.
AM: Do you see it as having any special purpose and significance?
BW: I think it is one of many miraculous appearances of Jesus’ face, that of the Madonna, and other signs that we are living in a very special time. We have come to a serious crisis in our civilization caused by the fact that all of our institutions are dead. They no longer serve our needs, and we are adrift. We need leadership, direction, and hope. These are signs that the great spiritual Teachers are returned to the everyday world to show us the way out of our problems.
AM: Some people might wonder, by “teachers” do you mean religious figures?
BW: No. One of these Teachers, the Master Jesus, is Leader of the Christian groups and so could be considered a “religious” Teacher, but others are Teachers in all departments of human life, political, economic, artistic, scientific, social and so forth. I think we need to realize that human beings are spiritual beings first and foremost. Our spirituality is what drives us to betterment, to positive development of our capacities, and to the desire to express love, compassion, wisdom. Maiteya’s return to the everyday world is only possible because, as He says, the heart of man is essentially pure love. Religion is not the only expression of spirituality, and with our competing religious ideologies, religion has become an impure expression of the teachings of all the Great Teachers (the Buddha, Krishna, the Imam Mahde, the Christ).
Their essential teachings are the same. It is the misguided interpretations, which have become dogmas, that cause war, hatred, privation and the many pathologies which we see acted out among men today. The simple awareness that all are sons and daughters of the one God can transform life on Earth.
